NOTICEBOARD Minerva at the forefront
of vetting with INTERTANKO
The 61st INTERTANKO Vetting Committee meeting was held in
London on 3 and 4 November 2022. The committee comprises
30 permanent members from the top global tanker operators
and is chaired by Minerva Marine’s Stefanos Stylianos. The
INTERTANKO Vetting Committee plays a vital role in the tanker
industry by maintaining an up-to-date flow of information to
its Membership, ensuring open two-way communication with its
stakeholders, including the Oil Majors, and offering feedback
and validation on developments in the field of vetting and Port
State Control inspections.
The INTERTANKO Vetting Committee, together with the Oil Com-
panies International Marine Forum (OCIMF), has been actively
involved in the SIRE 2.0 program, which is currently in the final
stages before its release within 2023, which is the start of the
transition period. Minerva Marine has been at the forefront of
the program, having conducted five SIRE 2.0 trial inspections
with OCIMF and TotalEnergies to date. The Chairman presented
to the committee an outline of the journey with SIRE 2.0 so far,
including the identified challenges and discussions with OCIMF.
A vetting seminar was held with OCIMF, CDI, Shell, and BP pres-
entations on the progress and impact of SIRE 2.0 and the expec-
tations during the transition period throughout 2023.
Minerva Marine and INTERTANKO continue to offer feedback to
OCIMF and the tanker industry, ensuring the new SIRE regime is
rolled out effectively and with a minimum, controlled impact on
the industry and the vessel clearance process.
