                                                                 Digital innovation and developments play a crucial role in the
                                                                 shipping industry. Digital innovation will significantly contribute
                                                                 to key areas of ship management by increasing competitive-
                                                                 ness and efficient ship management both onboard and ashore.
                                                                 It is important not only for achieving zero pollution but also
                                                                 for enhancing decarbonisation efforts. Moreover, it improves
                                                                 the verification of elements and enhances the monitoring
                                                                 and control of information through sensors generally used to
                                                                 collect large volumes of real-time data.
                                                                 Consequently, all this necessitates further education and re-
                                                                 quires specialisation for various roles on vessels. In general,
                                                                 digital innovation will contribute to developing and enhancing
                                                                 the implementation of the ISM Code on ships, as it allows for
                                                                 a more rapid and direct communication between the vessel
                                                                 and the office. The faster collection and analysis of accurate
                                                                 data will enable more flexible and effective decision-making.
